COSMIC ORIGINS

Reimagining Identity and Belonging Among the Stars
In 2026, humanity will return to the Moon — including the first Black astronaut to fly around our closest celestial neighbor. As the horizon of home expands, we ask: Where do the stars end and we begin?
We are made of stardust, yet many are taught to dim their light. Black communities in particular have long experienced alienation — feeling othered in our own communities, cast as “alien,” displaced within dominant systems. Celestial Heritage explores this tension between cosmic origin and social exclusion.
This exhibition invites artists to reflect on identity, ancestral memory, cosmic origins, and planetary responsibility — on Earth and beyond. What does it mean to truly belong to the universe?
